Bradley Clark Whitten
September 16, 1960 - June 9, 2025
Bradley Clark Whitten, age 64, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away into the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, June 9, 2025. He was born to Lacey Rorier Whitten and JoAnn Cunningham Whitten in San Antonio, TX in September 1960.
Bradley was raised in San Antonio and graduated from Alamo Heights High School and Texas A&M University. He possessed a restless spirit and an insatiable curiosity—qualities that led him down many paths, each marked by connection, purpose, and an undeniable passion for people. He made a joyous life in the Texas Hill Country spending time at the family ranch in Hye, raising his family in Harper and finally settling permanently in Fredericksburg. Over the years, he found his calling in journalism, teaching, and hospitality, weaving his talents into careers that allowed him to do what he did best: bring people together.
Bradley is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Randall Whitten. He is survived by his beloved wife Leigh; his children and greatest pride, Jake (Bethany) Whitten, and Sarah (Victor) Prieto, whose families brought new meaning and joy to his days; stepchildren Graham, Alden, and Kyle; his unwavering siblings, Caren (Themis) Alyfantis, Jenise (John) Shaver, Lacey (Kathleen) Whitten, Nancy Whitten; and an extended family of nieces and nephews who knew that Uncle Brad always had time for them—and probably a story, too.
The family will remember Bradley in a private setting, details to be determined.
In the words of one of his favorite characters, Gus McCrae, he’d want us to remember: “It ain’t dying I’m talking about, it’s living.” And Brad lived fully—with humor, humility, and heart.
