Roll Call Tribute

Kayla Marie Adkins

January 31, 1996 - October 1, 2021

Kayla Marie was born on a very cold, rainy day in January 1996. The weather that day, however, would never define this sweet baby girl who came with a smile on her face and joy in her heart.

Kayla’s smile tells the story of who she was! Loving, caring, giving, encouraging and inspiring to everyone. Her laugh was contagious, her spirit magnetic!

Kayla wanted everyone she knew to follow their dreams the way she did. She believed all things were possible with faith, imagination, confidence and ambition. Her list of places to go and things to accomplish was endless. She saw only possibilities in the world where others see limitations. Had she been given her expected years on earth she would have achieved most of those dreams and set her sights on new ones.

While Kayla loved you and wanted to be your friend, if you met her on the soccer field it was another story. She was fiercely competitive and her quickness as she flew past always left her opponents in defeat.

She also belonged to an elite club of calf scramblers by being only the 7th female in the history of the Katy Rodeo to win the calf scramble, again, with her speed, agility and determination.

On the outside, Kayla reflected only positivity and light but she struggled with two very debilitating diseases, (epilepsy and ulcerative colitis), which she carried like a princess. Never complaining, never allowing them to limit her, and never using either as an excuse to not be the best person she could in every moment of her life.

To live like Kayla is rare and a challenge to us all! To choose love, kindness, grace, beauty, and above all FAITH! To be the light Jesus calls us all to be, unyielding, constant, and without boundaries!

My prayer is to believe Jesus called my daughter home, so we could move forward and follow her lead.

The Lord has blessed you my Kayla, because you are in His Presence! Your spirit will live on every day in the hearts of those who love you! Until we meet again!
