Joel Eli Trevino
December 3, 1967 - June 2, 2025
Joel Eli Trevino, 57, of Webster, Texas, passed away and ran into the arms of Jesus on June 2, 2025. He was born in Houston, TX, on December 3, 1967, to Bennie and Gloria Trevino.
Joel was always the life of every gathering growing up and had what seemed like a normal life as a teenager, playing soccer and football, hanging out with family and friends. At the age of 18, Joel was diagnosed with renal failure, which was the beginning of an almost 40-year journey of many valleys and mountaintops, which ultimately included three kidney transplants and many, many surgeries; but that did not stop him.
He was accepted into A&M University in College Station, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Stephen F. Austin University was his next stop for a couple of years with the goal of receiving his Master’s Degree until health problems lead him back home. Thereafter, while home, God called Joel into the ministry, and he was ordained to preach the Gospel. From that point forward, there was no stopping Joel from telling anyone and everyone he encountered about the saving grace of Jesus. During this time, Joel welcomed his beautiful daughter, Kimberly, the apple of his eye, into the world.
Joel dated and ultimately was married to the absolute love of his life, Juli Trevino, for a total of 15 years. These years were filled with moments of uncontrollable laughter and a love that most people could only dream about. Juli brought three sons, another daughter, and grandchildren into the mix, and they all became his own, as well as countless others he adopted into his heart. Joel loved his family and friends deeply and never met a stranger. Seriously! He loved Sunday lunches after church at Mom and Dad’s where laughter and tears were always present. Most of all and deepest of all, Joel loved Jesus. His relationship with Jesus Christ is what mattered most to him, and he spoke often of how it would be when he finally was face to face with the One who saved him and gave him eternal life in a place where there is no more pain, no more sickness. Because Joel placed his trust in Jesus, he is now made whole.
Joel is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his beautiful mother, Gloria Trevino. He is survived by his father, Bennie Trevino; wife, Juli Trevino; sister, Ruthie Velasquez (husband, Jason; niece, Mia); Sam Trevino (wife, Lacye); daughters, Kimberly, Brittany and family; sons, Bryan, Brock and family, and Brendon.
