Michael Wayne "Mike" Busch
June 1, 1966 - July 7, 2025
Michael Wayne Busch, 59, passed away on July 7, 2025, surrounded by his family, after a well fought eight year battle with ALS.
Mike was born on June 1, 1966, in Dallas, Texas, and was raised in Plano, Texas, where he continued to live and build a life rooted in faith, family, and purpose.
A graduate of Trinity Christian Academy (Class of 1984) and Texas A&M University (Class of 1988), Mike went on to have a successful career in wealth management, earning both his CPA and CFP certifications. He owned and operated his own business Vogel Financial Advisors, where he served his clients with wisdom, care, and attention to detail. He was a man of integrity, intellect, and few—but always well chosen—words.
In 1989, Mike married his wife, Mary, and together they raised two children, Aaron and Lauren. He was deeply committed to providing for his family—not only through his work, but through intentional time, thoughtful guidance, and spiritual leadership. Mike served as an elder at his lifelong church, Plano Bible Chapel. He had a passion for travel and took great joy in planning family trips with thoughtful detail— often scheduling activities down to 15 minute intervals. At home, he loved the simple pleasures of watching Texas A&M football and Dallas Cowboys games, and playing board games, where his competitive streak usually led to a win. An athlete at heart, Mike’s energetic spirit shone through in everything from skiing and skydiving to wrestling and football. More than anything, Mike had a deep and unwavering heart for the Lord and for people who had never heard the gospel. He had a particular soft spot for the people of Bangladesh, and his commitment to missions was evident through his longtime support of Asha Partners. He often said that if even one person came to know Jesus through his journey with ALS, he would gladly walk that path again. The way he faced the disease head on, with courage and grace, was a testament to that conviction.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Fred Busch. He is survived by his wife, Mary Busch, his son Aaron Busch and wife Kristin, his daughter Lauren Busch, and his grandchildren, Adelaide and Lincoln Busch. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia Busch and her husband Freddy Grimsley, his sister, Lisa Darwin and husband Matt, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mike will be remembered for his strength, discernment, wisdom, conscientiousness, and unwavering faith in God. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched—an enduring reflection of what it means to follow Christ with steadfast devotion.
Romans 8:18: "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
