William Prichard Taylor 

June 19, 1927 - March 7, 2025 

William Prichard Taylor, born June 19, 1927 in Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025 in Laguna Hills, California, at the age of 97. Born to Walter Baker and Clyde Ferebee Taylor, he was known as “Prichard” among his family in Texas, and “Bill” once he came to California in the 1950s.

Prichard/Bill lived in Texas until his teenage years and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The war ended before he could be sent overseas, and he went to college under the GI Bill.

Bill received his Bachelors degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and received his Masters degree at Texas A&M University. Not long after graduation from Texas A&M, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he established a long career in southern California as a mechanical engineer, working in the aerospace industry.

Bill enjoyed most reading, traveling, backpacking, fishing, and in retirement, educating himself at what used to be called “Elderhostel” programs, and are now called the Road Scholar programs. Bill also loved writing limericks and participating in the local clubs at the Laguna Woods Village retirement community, where he would do such hobbies as rock tumbling.

There will be no immediate service in California, but a small ceremony during Memorial Day weekend among his Texas family will be held at the Old Margaret Cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Jeffrey William Taylor (69), who passed away May 25, 2024.

He is survived by his companion of 35 years, Gina Lin, who resides in Laguna Woods, and son, Bryan Gregory Taylor and two grandsons, William James Taylor and Andrew Baker Taylor, who reside in Foster City, California.
