Chester Spillar "Chip" Johnson, Jr.
March 4, 1952 - June 21, 2025
Chester Spillar "Chip" Johnson went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 73. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on March 4, 1952, Chip was the beloved son of Chester S. Johnson, Sr. and Bettie MacGlasson Johnson.
Affectionately known as "Chip," he was a proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Class of 1970. He went on to attend Texas A&M University, earning his degree in 1974, and later received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Wyoming in 1977.
Chip served his country honorably in the Air Force National Guard, exemplifying his deep love for his country and sense of duty. After his service, he built a successful career, retiring from Wells Fargo after 13 years of dedicated work. At Texas A&M he was in Ross Volunteers and Fish Drill Team.
A man of many passions, Chip was an avid reader and a devoted patron of the arts. He was known for his remarkable collection of antiques, and his home reflected his appreciation for history and craftsmanship. His love for animals knew no bounds-from domestic pets to the most exotic creatures, Chip had a tender heart for them all.
Chip will be remembered for his intelligence, warmth, and unwavering integrity. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 43 years, Jennifer Johnson and children, Trinity Laurence (Chloe Laurence), Gunnar Johnson (Ivonne Oyervidez); and dogs, Baylee and Gus and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Gathering with friends will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 1:00pm at Aggie Club 6205 West Ave San Antonio, TX 78213.
