Drew Matthew Dean
September 27, 1979 - June 27, 2025
Drew Dean of Houston, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the age of 45. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Dolan Dean, and their three children Lucy, Hayes, and Ruby, who were the pride and joy of his life. He also leaves behind his parents Pamela and Warren, his sisters Molly (Terry) and Anna (Jim), his brother Marc (Carolina), and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who adored him.
Drew was a cherished husband, a devoted father, a treasured son, an adored uncle, and a steadfast, loyal, and giving friend. A proud Eagle Scout, Drew embodied the values of service, integrity, and leadership throughout his life. He was known for his love of country music, his dedication to all things Texas A&M, and his passion for barbecuing for his friends and family. Drew spent his entire professional life—23 years—working for Shell, starting as an intern and working his way up to Business Development Manager. For Drew, happiness was staying up all night to smoke a brisket, fine-tuning his signature spice rub, and watching people gather, laugh, and enjoy the meal he’d lovingly prepared.
He had a remarkable way of improving the lives of those around him. Whether mentoring underclassmen through leadership organizations at Texas A&M or offering well-researched advice on everything from grilling technique to travel rewards programs, Drew was always looking out for others. Being Drew’s friend meant laughing constantly, receiving useful and timely advice, and getting picked up in big bear hugs when you least expected it.
To know Drew was to feel supported, entertained, and fully seen.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 20775 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77450. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Scholarships and Financial Aid Department of the Texas A&M Foundation in Drew’s memory.
