Winfred Allen Vaughn 

October 18, 1942 - April 16, 2025 

Winfred Allen Vaughn, 82, passed away at home peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Born on October 18, 1942, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Allen lived a life marked by service, innovation, and spirited enthusiasm.

Allen grew up and graduated from Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas. He went on to pursue an engineering degree from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1964. Shortly after, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the U.S. Army. He served with honor being deployed to fight in the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism.

Following his military service, Allen transitioned into the flourishing world of technology. He was recruited into the computer industry at a time when it was still in its infancy. His career included roles at pioneering companies such as IBM, Wang Laboratories, and Tektronix-organizations that would go on to shape the future of computing. Allen's work placed him at the forefront of technological innovation during a transformative era.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Allen was known for his vibrant personality and love of sports. A devoted fan of his alma mater's football team, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Texas A&M Aggies. Whether watching a game or sharing stories over drinks with friends, he brought laughter and camaraderie wherever he went. North Dallas sports bars were often graced by his presence and infectious spirit!

Allen is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Julie, brother Ronald Vaughn; sister Sherry Faulkner; son Kyle Vaughn; daughters Kristin Carlbom and Kelley Dewkett; and granddaughters Sera Vaughn and Brynne Carlbom. He was preceded in death by his father Winfred Earl Vaughn and mother Jeanette Persons Vaughn.

A memorial service will be held on May 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Restland Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.

May the memory of Winfred Allen Vaughn bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire laughter and joy in their hearts.
