June 4, 1937 - May 1, 2025
Robert Edwin Wottrich, 87, passed from this life to be with his Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven on Thursday, May 1st, 2025. He was born on June 4, 1937, in Houston, Texas to Edwin H. and Gertrude Lehmann Wottrich. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston.
He graduated from Trinity Lutheran Grade School in 1951, and John H. Reagan High School in 1955. In 1959, he graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Product Sales. Following graduation, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and spent two years in Germany, then remained in the Army Reserves until August 1964. In August 1963, he met the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) Stockert, and they married on October 24, 1964. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage in Christ.
When Bob returned from Germany, he went to work in sales for Industrial Coating Specialties Corporation, working alongside his sister and brother-in-law and two nephews. He spent his entire career at ICSC, retiring on December 31, 2002.
Bob was a devoted Christian man, dedicated to the Lord and faithfully served the church in various capacities beginning as a youth in the Walther League. Later he served the Lord at Trinity in the Voter’s Assembly, Board of Finance (eventually becoming the Chairman of that board), Sexton of the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, and Usher. In the early 1990’s, he and Pat joined Memorial Lutheran Church, Houston. While at Memorial, he participated in the Voter’s Assembly and Bible Study. In 1999, they joined Our Savior Lutheran Church in NW Houston, and he continued to be involved in the Voter’s Assembly, Ushering, and multiple Bible Studies.
He lived his life with integrity and quiet strength, treating everyone he was around with kindness and respect. And he was a loyal “Fightin’ Texas Aggie!” Bob always enjoyed a great game of bridge or dominoes. He enjoyed hunting deer and dove with family and friends. In his earlier years, he was an avid League bowler. Later, he and Pat switched to playing golf and after retirement joined the Cen-Tex Grasshoppers, traveling around Central Texas, playing various courses. He and Pat enjoyed traveling in the 80’s and 90’s, and traveled even more after retirement. They were privileged to have visited many places in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America, Europe, and the Holy Land.
Bob is survived by his wife: Pat; sister: Joanne Wottrich Hemann; nephews and niece: Larry (Jamelle) Hannusch, Mike (Karin) Hannusch, Stacie Hemann; nephews-in-law: Trey (Julia) Stockert, John (Jennifer) Stockert, Jamie Calvert; and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
