Robert Bruce Bland 

April 24, 1956 - May 9, 2025 

Robert Bruce Bland, age 69 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025 at his home after a courageous fight against cancer. Bruce was born April 24, 1956 in Corpus Christi, Texas and had been a resident of Alvin, Texas since 1983.

Bruce was an A&M graduate, fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1978. He worked as a civil engineer, finishing his 48 year career as the plant manager for NRG’s San Jacinto Steam Electric Station.

Bruce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Bland and his sister, Lisa Ratzke. Bruce is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vicki Bland; son, Robert Bland and spouse Anna; daughter, Renee Bland and partner Kelsey; granddaughter, Emma Bland; mother, Mary Bland; sisters, Marsha Clark and Gay DeForde; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

At home, Bruce is fondly remembered for his kindness, gentleness, and quick wit; love and dedication to his family and his beloved dogs; and as a doting grandfather. At work, Bruce leaves behind a cadre of work brothers and colleagues whom he led graciously and cared for deeply.

Bruce will be honored by his family with a private service. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance would be greatly appreciated and Bruce wanted to encourage all he knew to have regular colonoscopies often and early.
