Austin William Smith 

August 19, 1997 - June 3, 2025 

Captain Austin Smith was active in the Boy Scouts of America where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was active in the JROTC program at James Bowie High School and he was also on the rifle drill team. He graduated high school a week early to attend Marine Corps boot camp. Upon completion of boot camp he attended Texas A&M University. While there he was part of H-1 in the Corps of Cadets.

In his freshman year in the Corps of Cadets he was on the rifle drill team. Also while at A&M he was enlisted in the USMC as a PFC and was a mortarmen with the 1/23 weapons company based in Austin, TX. Upon graduation from Texas A&M, he was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant and he served with the 2/4 based in Camp Pendleton and with FAST Company based in Norfolk, VA where he attained the rank of Captain. Austin was an active member of the Crossroads Church in VA and at Real Life Church in TX.

Austin is survived by his parents William and Diana Smith, his sister Lauren Pena, and brother-in-law Jonathan Pena.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Austin's memory to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

Services will be held privately.
