Glenn Brant Redmond, native Dallasite, musician, and architect, died peacefully on March 11, 2025 due to complications from pneumonia and Parkinson's disease. He had been living at C.C. Young Retirement Community for two years.
Glenn was born August 8, 1944, to Lou and Lillian Redmond and was an only child. He attended Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Junior High, and Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, as well as Lamar High School in Houston.
Glenn attended Texas A&M University for architecture and studied music at El Centro and North Texas State. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, being stationed in the US as well as in Thailand.
While at North Texas State, Glenn met Nita Nicholson and they were married in 1973. Their son Ross was born in 1983.
Glenn was a true lover of music and was involved in many jazz and rock bands over the years, playing guitar and bass, and singing. Highlights include his 70s dance band High Spirits, and more recently his singing group Dallas Doo-Wop which performed for 17 years for crowds mostly made up of friends from Lakewood who attended Woodrow Wilson High School.
His love of music extended to First United Methodist Church Dallas, where he was a lifelong member. Glenn was in the Chancel Choir for which he sang tenor and went on several European trips.
In his professional career, Glenn worked for several architecture firms over the years, the most memorable projects being the Meyerson Symphony Center and the Dallas Museum of Art.
Glenn was gentle and kind and deeply loved by his family and all his friends. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife Nita and son Ross.
Glenn's memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at First United Methodist Church Dallas. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at michaeljfox.org.
