Roger Tamayo '75 June 10, 2025 1:32 PM updated: June 10, 2025 1:50 PM

Roger T. Tamayo

July 16, 1953 - May 4, 2025

Roger Tria Tamayo passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, in Quezon City, Philippines, surrounded by his wife and relatives. He was born July 16, 1953, in Davao City, Philippines. He grew up in Bangkok, Thailand, studied at the University of the Philippines for his first two years of college and transferred to Texas A&M University where he earned his BS and MS degrees in Industrial Engineering. Roger married his childhood love, Judith Arzadon Tamayo on July 25, 1981, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Thereafter the couple moved to Houston, Texas where they built their family communities and careers. Roger worked for Igloo Corporation for 25 years until he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. This disease may have tried to slow Roger down, but it never took away his spirit. He faced each day with a quiet strength, and a deep determination to keep going – not just for himself, but for those he loved. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and relatives around the world. Roger was very kind, generous and supportive as he helped and mentored many individuals (relatives and friends) to attain their education and succeed in life.

He was preceded in death by parents Manuel and Carolina. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Judith Arzadon Tamayo, siblings, Manuel (Terrie), Archito (Chai), and Caroline, and countless nieces and nephews around the world.

Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church, Houston TX. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
