Hilary A. Himpler 

May 6, 1949 - March 30, 2025 

Hilary Himpler grew up in the picturesque town of Port Washington, NY, a place that would remain a constant anchor throughout her life. Her childhood summers were spent at Beacon Hill Beach, where she found joy in sailing and swimming, absorbing the coastal beauty and the freedom that came with the open water.

Her academic journey began at the State University at Cortland, where she laid the foundation for her future accomplishments. Eager to pursue higher education, Hilary continued her studies at Texas A&M University, earning a doctorate in chemistry. This achievement marked the beginning of a distinguished career in the chemical industry.

Hilary's professional life saw her working at notable companies such as FMC Pharmaceutics, DuPont, and Celanese. Her expertise took her across the United States and Europe, where she engaged with diverse teams and cultures, further broadening her horizons. Despite her extensive travels, Hilary's heart remained tethered to Port Washington. She returned to her beloved town in the late 90s, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a renewed dedication to her community.

Upon her return, Hilary served on several chemical company boards, leveraging her knowledge and leadership skills to make significant contributions to the industry. However, her commitment to Port Washington went beyond her professional endeavors. Hilary worked tirelessly for the Beacon Hill Residents Association, advocating for the preservation and enhancement of her community. In recent years, she managed the boathouse, and volunteered to help maintain the beach and community triangles.

One of Hilary's most notable achievements was her collaborative effort with other Port residents to prevent a large apartment development from being built on the waterfront near the Town Beach. This initiative showcased her dedication to preserving the unique charm and integrity of Port Washington, ensuring that future generations could enjoy the same coastal beauty she cherished.

A staunch supporter of all issues involving Port Washington, Hilary's passion and advocacy left an indelible mark on the town. Her life's work was a testament to the power of dedication, resilience, and the unwavering love for one's community.

Hilary Himpler was the last member of the Himpler family, a legacy carried with grace and pride. Her parents, Jack and Claire, and her brother Mark, were integral parts of her life story, shaping her values and instilling a deep sense of community.

Hillary’s legacy as an educator, mentor, and friend will continue to inspire generations to come. Her wisdom, kindness, and dedication to community causes has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
