William Robert "Bill" Crenshaw

July 5, 1940 - March 28, 2025

William R. Crenshaw, 84, of Dallas, TX, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025.

In his final days, Bill was surrounded by his loving family as they gathered to share memories, view cherished family photos and videos, sing his favorite hymns, read passages from the Bible, and pray over him. Their heartfelt presence and prayers ushered him into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, where he is now at peace for eternity.

Bill was born on July 5, 1940, in Houston, TX, to Dr. Elmo and Elizabeth (Ware) Crenshaw. He grew up in Weslaco, TX, where he graduated from Weslaco High School in 1958. Bill continued his education at Texas A&M University, where he graduated in 1962. A proud Aggie, he was an active member of the swim team and the Corps of Cadets. Following his graduation, Bill proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

Bill’s passions were as varied as his vibrant personality. He loved traveling, photography, telling jokes, Bible studies, church activities, and serving in the children’s ministries at his church. He was an avid supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed attending Texas A&M football games. His warm demeanor, quick wit, and the ability to make everyone feel comfortable will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Due to his pleasant and gregarious nature, Bill enjoyed a fulfilling career as a successful insurance agent with State Farm Insurance, where he owned his agency for 31 years. His work not only provided for his family but also allowed him to build lifelong friendships with colleagues and clients. Some of the family’s fondest memories are of the special award trips he earned, where his dedication and hard work were recognized.

In 1965, Bill met the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Vogt, of Alpine, TX, at a young adult class at Scofield Church in Dallas. They were married in 1966, and together they raised their family in Dallas. Bill’s playful spirit was evident in the way he affectionately introduced Betty as his “first wife,” always lightening the mood with his jokes. His love for Betty was unwavering, and his genuine kindness, coupled with his sense of humor, made him a beloved figure to all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife Betty, daughters Kristi Padley and her husband David, Holly Archer, and son, Craig Crenshaw and his wife Christina. He was also a proud grandfather to five cherished grandchildren. Bill is further survived by his sister Marcia Gresham, niece Katie Smith, nephew Kirk Gresham, and his father’s wife, Gloria, along with numerous other extended family members and friends.

His family takes comfort in knowing that Bill has been reunited with loved ones who have gone before him, that his mind is restored, and that he now rests in the presence of his Savior. The family would like to express gratitude to Bill’s caregivers at Visiting Angels, Alpha Omega Hospice, and Tribute Senior Living.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Restland Funeral Home’s Memorial Chapel in Dallas, on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
