Robert Burton Karsteter, LTC USA (Ret)
December 22, 1935 - February 12, 2025
Lt. Col. Robert Burton Karsteter, US Army Ret., 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at SpiriTrust at Utz Terrace in Hanover, PA.
He was born December 22, 1935 in Temple, TX. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Burton Wagner and Opal Elizabeth Martin Karsteter, and his wife Beverly Kane Karsteter in 2024.
Bob was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. LTC Karsteter was a 1954 graduate of Bowie High School he then earned a BA Degree from Texas A&M University in 1958, a Master’s in Science and Mathematics from Texas A&M in 1960, and an MBA from Shippensburg University in 1988. Following his graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and served for 24 years. After he retired from the service he taught at Gettysburg College in the Military Science Department and then for Mount Saint Mary’s University teaching in the Business Department for 20 years.
Mr. Karsteter is survived by seven children; Burton Karsteter (Connie), Linda Karsteter Stubbs (Robert Thayer), LTC Page Karsteter (Nichole Perata), Beverly Anne Karsteter (David Walowsky), Martha Perkins (Jess), Marty Qually (Elizabeth Meighan), Paul Karsteter (Theresa), grandchildren: Jason, Laura Anna, Emily, Kate, Helen, Scott, Gianna, Clara, Maggie, Kane, Aiden, Lucien, Tyler, Page, Ruthie, Nick, Kate and Sam, several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren: Blake and Brynn, several beloved extended family members and exchange students. He was also predeceased by a sister, Linda June Schell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, 11:00 AM from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg. Interment with full military honors will be in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass.
