David Norman "Dave" Clamme
May 1, 1946 - March 19, 2025
David Norman Clamme, 78, passed away on March 19, 2025 at Crown Pointe in Hartford City, IN.
He was born on May 1, 1946 in Hartford City to Norman Perry Clamme and Louise Kathryn (Schmidt) Clamme. His parents preceded him in death.
Dave graduated from Hartford City High School in 1964 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 1968. He then went on to earn his master’s degree from Texas A&M University in 1971.
He always had a smile to share and he loved family time with his boys and grandkids. He found great joy in making memories with those he loved. He spent his life farming and was a good steward to his land. Not only did he enjoy planting and harvesting his crops, he found time for gardening in the summer. He also enjoyed a competitive card game from time to time. Hunting and fishing were a favorite pastime, but most recently he enjoyed racing horses.
Dave worked as a Purdue Extension Agent in Delaware and Brown Counties until his retirement. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and Master Gardener’s Club. He liked to have a positive impact on his community and formerly served on the Blackford County School Board for two terms and served on the 4-H Fair Board. He enjoyed helping the youth in the county and formerly was a 4-H Club Leader.
He will be sadly missed by his sons, Jason A. (wife, Rebecca “Becky”) Clamme of Wilmington, NC and Wes R. (wife Shelley) Clamme of Yorktown; close friend, companion and former wife, Patricia “Pat” Clamme of Hartford City; grandchildren, Ragan Clamme, Olivia Clamme, Eli Clamme and Brady Clamme; step-grandchildren, Devon (wife, Kailey) Brumback and Ian Brumback; brothers, Paul Douglas Clamme of Hartford City and Michael S. (wife, Judy) Clamme of Hartford City; sister, Margaret Rose “Peggy” Furniss of Westfield; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service for Dave will be at 2 PM Friday, March 28, 2025, Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City, IN. Burial of cremains will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
