Vinson Edwin-Sterling "Vince" Kirchner
November 11, 1942 - April 22, 2025
Vinson Edwin-Sterling Kirchner was called home by his Lord on April 22, 2025, at 82 years of age.
Vinson was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, on November 11, 1942, to Oswald and Margaret Kirchner. He married Sandra Dolores Scott on June 4, 1965, and they shared just short of 60 years of marriage. He was a member of the Hill Country Church in Fredericksburg.
He and Sandra had three sons and their wives and families: Derek and Jeanette Kirchner of Boerne, Daryl and Cheryl Kirchner of Boerne, and Dalen and Randa Kirchner of Fredericksburg. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Clayte (Katy), Ross (Leighton), Autumn, Hailey, Will, and Yates.
Vinson graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1961 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree (1966) and Master of Science from Texas A&M University (1968). He was later recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus. He worked 34 years at Owens Country Sausage in Richardson, Texas, beginning as a floor supervisor and eventually becoming company president. Vinson was involved with and supported the Southwest Meat Association for many years and was inducted into their Hall of Honor in 2023.
He and Sandra retired and relocated to the family ranch outside of Fredericksburg in 2004. After retirement, he spent his time improving the ranch, working with his livestock, and helping to found the Texas Hill Country Dorper Sheep Association. He was involved in the Cherry Spring Wildlife Association and was awarded the Lone Star Land Stewardship Award.
While these blessings and awards were wonderful, Vinson cherished his Lord, family, and friends the most. He was always active in serving in the church throughout his adult life. His salvation was evidenced by interacting with people with a kind, positive attitude and great hope. He ran a great race of life, and even when cancer weakened him at the end, he was full of gratitude for his salvation from our Lord. He was supported by many family members, neighbors, and close friends. He often voiced his love and gratitude for those who supported him during the last stretch to his finish line. The family wishes to express our sincerest gratitude for his weekly lunches with friends, visits from neighbors, and the loving care received from the Hill Country hospice care team. Vinson Kirchner, a beloved husband, father, and Opa, will be missed by many.
As per his wishes, Vinson will be cremated with a memorial service at the Hill Country Church of Fredericksburg on May 15, 2025.
