Elton Hillard Simmons, III, age 71, of Brady, Texas passed away Monday, May 5, 2025, in Brady. Elton was born on July 6, 1953, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Elton Hillard Simmons, Jr. and Opal Elizabeth (Wheeler) Simmons. He grew up in and graduated from High School in Amarillo, Texas. He attended Texas A & M University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in agricultural journalism and was a member of A & M’s 1974 National Championship Rugby Team. He worked as a salesman in the food service industry most of his working life. He retired in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most anything that would place him outdoors with the animals. He was a member of the Brady Community Church and has lived in Brady for over 20 years.
Elton Simmons wishes were for his remains to be cremated. His family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Friends may view and/or sign Elton’s online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com.
Elton Hillard Simmons is survived by his loving daughters Melissa McDaniel and husband Frank of Lumberton, Texas and Emily Simmons of Vidor, Texas; sister Sharron Caudill and husband J.R. of Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico and grandchildren Karsyn McDaniel and Kamryn McDaniel and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Brian Hillard Simmons.
