John Richard Cummins 

October 13, 1930 - May 15, 2024 

John Richard Cummins, son of Jimmie Lenora Mahaley and Marvin Earnest Cummins, was born October 13, 1930, in Rice, Texas. He went to his eternal home on May 15, 2024, at the age of 93. Growing up, he attended schools in Rice and Corsicana, Texas. Richard played football at Texas A&M University, followed by Kilgore Jr. College, and the University of Florida until he was drafted by the Army during the Korean War. He was stationed at Ft. Ord in California. After leaving the Army, he played one season with the San Francisco Forty-Niners before returning to Corsicana to become a businessman in the oil and gas industry in Navarro and surrounding counties.

Richard married Mary Joan Lansford on January 22, 1955. She predeceased him on May 3, 2023. Also predeceasing him are his older brother, James Earnest Cummins, and his daughter, Catherine Cummins. He is survived by his daughter Denise Poole (Doug), Son John Richard Cummins, Jr. (Gail), daughter Carin Cummins Zito (Paul), and his grandchildren Jonathan Moseley (Nancy), Laura DeAnda-Hall (Alan), Erin Pederson (Cutter), Steven Poole (Gina), Alex Cummins (Jackie), Michele Cummins (Clarence), Lianna Zito, Katarina Zito, and Naomi Zito, and 6 great-grandchildren.
