Roll Call Tribute

Robert Somoano '61 May 20, 2025 10:43 AM updated: May 23, 2025 10:55 AM

Robert B. Somoano

September 2, 1940 - April 29, 2025

Robert B. Somoano has passed away, April 29, 2025. Celebration of Life will take place in Pasadena, CA on a date yet to be determined.

It is with incredible sadness, but exponentially more gratitude, that I announce the passing of my wonderful, loving Dad (Dad, Robert, Gpa). After 84 years of a life full of adventure, laughter, and boundless love, it was sudden complications with the liver and kidneys that ultimately got to the strongest man I know. His last moments were spent surrounded by loved ones who reminisced with him about a life well-lived. We even got some jokes out of him up to the end, with a flash of his beautiful smile and his whispered words "I'm very happy".

Although I wish he had more years with us, he did not squander a day on this earth. He climbed the tallest peaks, traversed the wilderness, traveled to exotic locales, studied the stars, absorbed opera and literature, sipped the finest margaritas, told the best stories, and gave his daughters the most remarkable role model for living. But most importantly, he had the most special love of 62 years with my mom Marylin...a love for the ages that any of us could only aspire to. All those fortunate enough to enter my Dad's orbit shined ever brighter because of him. And now he dwells among the stars as we continue our lives under his brilliant glow.
