Alan Grice McCarty 

March 10, 1932 - May 12, 2025 

Mr. Alan G. McCarty, 93, of Anniston, Alabama, formerly of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away May 12, 2025, at his home in Anniston.

The funeral service will be at 2 pm on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Anniston First Baptist Church at McClellan. The Reverend Buddy Nelson and the Rev. J. Mark Lash LeRoux will officiate. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Mr. McCarty was born March 10, 1932, in Dallas, TX, to Alexander Grice McCarty and Agnes Hughes McCarty. He graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High School in 1949. In 1953, he graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and later graduated from UAB with a degree in Economics. He was commissioned as an officer in the US Army in 1953, and served in Korea. He and Barbara June Calhoun married on June 4, 1955 at the First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls. He relocated to Anniston, AL in 1961, where he was employed by Monsanto. For 62 years, he was a member of the Anniston First Baptist Church at McClellan, where he served as a deacon, received the honorary status of Deacon Emeritus, and served in many leadership positions. Friends remember Mr. McCarty for his humorous stories and never missing the men's prayer breakfast.

Mr. McCarty is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Barbara C. McCarty; a granddaughter, Krista Lynn McCarty; and his parents and a sister, Beverly Pearson.

Survivors include his daughters, Belinda McCarty, Shari Jackson and her husband, Dalen, and Carol Caufield and her husband, Steve; sons, John McCarty and his wife, Rhonda, and Charles McCarty; four grandchildren, Kevin McCarty and his wife, Ashley, Daniel Jackson and his wife, Maggie, Emma Jackson and her husband, Clark, and Evan Caufield; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John McCarty, Kevin McCarty, Dalen Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Clark Perkins, and Bobby McCune.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Anniston First Baptist Church at McClellan Building Fund, 851 Morton Road, Ft. McClellan, AL 36205; East Central Alabama United Cerebral Palsy, 415 Castle Avenue, Anniston, AL 36205; or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, PO Box 97372, Washington, DC 20090-7372.
