John Gibson Hamilton, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret)
April 4, 1936 - April 14, 2025
Lieutenant Colonel John G. Hamilton, PhD, a devoted husband, beloved father, cherished grandfather, and proud military veteran, passed away peacefully at his home on April 14, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born with a deep sense of duty and unwavering integrity, John dedicated his life to serving others - both in and out of uniform. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and the Marines, embodying loyalty, courage, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who met him.
He was the rock of his family and the kind of man who led by example. For 54 beautiful years, he shared a life full of love and partnership with his devoted wife, Barbara. Together they built a strong and loving family -- raising five children: Debbie (David), Dale (Cam), Susan (Jay), Gregg (deceased), and John (Laura) - who carry forward his values and spirit.
John was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on in their laughter, kindness, and the lives they lead.
Known for his steady hand, kind heart, and strong moral compass, John was a friend you could always count on. He left a lasting impression on everyone he knew-a man of few words, but deep wisdom, generosity, and love.
He will be deeply missed, remembered always, and honored forever.
A service to celebrate his life will be May 10th, 2025 at Frazer Church in Montgomery, AL.
