Luther Cameron Alread, Jr.
September 2, 1939 - April 20, 2025
Luther "Cameron" Alread, Jr., 85, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, after a brief illness.
Memorial Service: 2:30pm Saturday, May 17, 2025, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 5709 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, Texas 76133. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at 4:00pm at The Tradition, 5755 Clearfork Main St., Fort Worth, Texas 76109.
Cameron was born on September 2, 1939, and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Amon Carter Riverside High School and graduated with honors from Texas A&M University with a degree in Architecture.
He opened his own architectural firm in 1976, and devoted his career to improving the living conditions of the elderly, the handicapped, and the less fortunate. He was also a past president of the Fort Worth Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
Cameron met his future wife, Jan, on a blind date that led to a loving marriage lasting over 50 years until her death in 2016. He was a devoted husband, father, mentor, and friend, always putting the needs of others above his own.
Cameron had a strong faith. He was an active member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church for 60 years, where he served on countless parish boards, committees, and organizations.
Cameron enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an avid golfer. He also excelled in bowling and ping-pong in his younger years.
He is survived by his son, Michael of Selah, Wash.; daughter, Michele Alread Daugherty and husband, Robbie, of Garland; sisters-in-law, Kay Alread of Victor, New York and Rita Bauer of Arlington; along with numerous nephews and nieces.
