George William Gorsen
October 23, 1937 - January 23, 2025
George William Gorsen, age 87 of League City, Texas passed away peacefully at his home of over 50 years on January 23, 2025. His pastor was by his side. George was born on October 23, 1937, in Houston, Texas to the late Catherine and Victor Gorsen.
George was a lifetime resident of League City, Texas. He graduated from Webster High School in 1956 as the top male in Academics in his class. George married the love of his life in 1959, Cherry Edens, after two months of dating. Their 61 years of marriage is a testimony to true love. After graduating from high school, George worked for GI Butler in League City and also worked at various other jobs. He attended several different colleges, UT in 1956, Blinn College in 1957, and A&M in 1958. He was hired at Amoco Oil in 1964 where he worked for 31 years. George started as a machinist and was promoted several times to supervisor positions. Before he had children, he told Cherry he did not want to have children unless he could take them everywhere they went – so he did. The family took numerous summertime trips visiting many states across America.
George had many hobbies that he enjoyed with his family and friends. Hunting and fishing were his 2 greatest pleasures. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family at Matagorda Bay and in Kingsland, Texas. He loved hunting with his son Lance and seashell collecting with his daughter Leigh Ann. He also loved watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros, on tv with his daughter Lynette. Other hobbies George enjoyed were coin collecting, wood working, stamp collecting and building and fixing anything. George also loved many dogs over the many years of his life. Asta, Rebel, Lady, Georgie, Gigi, and Ruby will always hold a special place in his heart. He took great pride in his family’s many accomplishments and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a special source of pride and joy.
George is preceded in death by wife Cherry, his parents, Catherine and Victor, his stepfather R.T. and brother-in-law Bill Brooks. The family takes comfort in knowing that they are now together again.
His memory will be cherished by his children; son Lance Gorsen, wife Alicia, daughters Leigh Ann Moser, husband Jeff and Lynette Graf, husband Rick; sister-in-law Sue Brooks; grandchildren Tanya Gorsen, Lil Lance Gorsen, wife Eve, Ryan Drab, wife Michele, Anthony Drab and Katelyn Harris; step-grandchildren Taylor Moser, Matthew Moser, Samantha Martinez, husband Josue; great-grandchildren Kylie, Kaden, Ryanna, Sora, Kyla and Zelda; step-great-grandchildren Adalyn and Ethan, and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dignity Memorial Forest Park East.
