Richard Salas Torres, Jr.
May 5, 1949 - March 5, 2025
Richard Torres was a man driven by an unshakable sense of duty to his family and himself. He passed away on March 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and unshakable loyalty. Richard lived a life marked by devotion; to his loved ones, his principles, and his Lord.
A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, Richard exemplified the values of hard work and integrity throughout his 75 years. He honored his father, Richard Torres, Sr., with unwavering commitment until his father’s final day, and was the cherished apple of his mother Rebecca Robles Ramon’s eye, doted on above all others. Richard’s pride and joy were his two daughters, Alexa and Alannah, whom he raised with a fierce and protective love. He experienced one final miracle in his life with the birth of his granddaughter, Aida Jade, for whom Richard went through an irrevocable transformation. Richard held his sisters, Rosa Balay and Vivian Johnson, close to his heart, and found a true brother in his brother-in-law, Tony Balay.
Though he could be rough around the edges, Richard’s faith shone through in his unwavering belief in the power of prayer and the blessed hope spoken of in Titus 2:13. He loved the Lord with all his heart, trusting in the promise of eternal joy. His passions and personality, gruff yet gentle, determined yet devout, endeared him to those who knew him best.
The full magnitude of Richard’s loss will unfold with time, but he is already sorely missed by his family, friends, and all those touched by his presence. His life reminds us that duty, love, and faith can build a legacy that endures.
