Paul Arthur Jenkins, Jr.
March 4, 1941 - March 26, 2025
Paul Arthur Jenkins, Jr., 84, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at his home. A graveside service will be 1 pm, Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Minerva Cemetery, with Pastors David Hankins and Ray Don McIntosh officiating. A Memorial service will be held, 2 pm, Saturday April 12th, 2025 at Murray Street Church of Christ with Pastors David Hankins and Ray Don McIntosh officiating.
Paul was born on March 4, 1941, in Minerva, Texas, to Paul A. Jenkins, Sr. and Ertha Lee Richardson Jenkins. He grew up in the Minerva community; in his youth, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially quail hunting with his dogs.
Paul attended Rockdale Public Schools, where he was active in sports and the high school agricultural program. After Paul graduated from Rockdale High School in 1959, he attended Navarro Junior College on a football scholarship. He later transferred to Texas A&M University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Agriculture Education.
Paul married Linda Diane Silvey on June 5, 1964. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary last year.
Paul proudly served in the Texas National Guard from 1967-1973. Paul worked in the Texas Agricultural Extension Service for his entire career. He served as an Assistant County Agent in Cooke and Dallas counties before he accepted the Parker County Agent position. He was a member of the Texas Agricultural Agents Association and served in leadership positions at the district and state levels. He retired from Parker County in 1992 after 27 years.
Throughout Paul’s life, he enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. Later in life, he watched wildlife in his pasture as he shot hogs and coyotes from his back porch.
Paul was a faithful follower of Christ and was a member of the Murray Street Church of Christ. Paul gave of his time and skills to make repairs around the church and complete any tasks that were asked of him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.
Paul also donated many hours to the Minerva Community Cemetery. As an original board member, he spent countless hours planning, constructing, and welding the new cemetery fence in 2005 as well as other cemetery projects; in addition, he never missed a cemetery workday. He also served as Vice-President and later President of the Cemetery Board until his health caused him to resign from the board after 17 years.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; special cousins, Dan, Dorothy, and Jake Jenkins; nephew, B.J. Silvey; and sisters-in-law, Frances Jenkins and Carolyn Ivey.
Paul is survived by his wife, Linda; a brother, Lee Jenkins; nephews, Lee Jenkins II and wife Julie, Ryan Jenkins and wife Cherami, and Shane Silvey; nieces, Sabrina Silvey, Kelly Ivey, Rebekah Ivey, and Tommi Ivey; and brothers-in-law, Henry Dell Silvey and wife Debbie, and Tom Ivey.
