Michael Andrew "Andy" McCullough

October 8, 1956 - March 14, 2025

Michael Andrew "Andy" McCullough, 68, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025. Andy was a kind and devoted man. He loved Valley High School, was a 1974 graduate, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in October of 2024. Following his graduation, he attended Sioux Empire College in Iowa on a full ride scholarship. Andy moved to Dallas and obtained a Bachelors Degree from Dallas Baptist University. He met his wife, Sue, while working at Sprint and they married in 1982. Andy proceeded on to Texas A&M University to pursue a Masters degree and received a Certificate of International Non-Profit Management from the George Bush School of Government and Public Service. While in Texas, Andy's career was with The Salvation Army as Director of Community Services. He was head of their Disaster Response Team, and in that role, Andy supported the needs of many small Texas communities by establishing volunteer teams. He coordinated disaster response teams and headed many fundraising campaigns. He only left the work when Parkinson's kept him from performing at full strength, 13 years after diagnosis.

Andy spent his career doing work that truly made him happy; a blessing enjoyed by a very few. He was a proud Kentucky Colonel. Andy will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Forever a Viking!

He was born on October 8, 1956 in Louisville, Kentucky to William and Mary (Berry) McCullough. He is preceded in death by his father, William Murray McCullough; mother, Mary McCullough; and brother, Arthur McCullough.

Andy is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sue McCullough; brother, Lewis (Carole) McCullough; sister, Mary Williams; nieces and nephews, Matt (Emily) McCullough, Timothy McCullough, Tina Dishman, Glenn (Jo Jo) Jones, Daryl Jones, Roger (Tracy) Jones, Stephanie Jones, Greg Golding, John Golding.

A memorial service to honor Andy's life will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway.

The family requests that contributions in Andy's memory be made to The Salvation Army or Bluegrass Shih-Tzu Rescue.
