Roll Call Tribute

Darryl Vegh '76 May 2, 2024 10:32 AM updated: May 2, 2024 10:40 AM

Darryl Jonathan Vegh

April 4, 1952 - October 4, 2023

Darryl Jonathan Vegh was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. He was 71.

Darryl was born on April 4, 1952 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Laura Jeanne Vegh (formerly Barber) and Frank Vegh, Jr. He was the eldest of five brothers from that marriage and a sister and brother from Laura’s second marriage to Ralph Neville. He is survived by siblings, Paul (Darlene), Kenneth, William (Maureen), Bryan (Elizabeth), Michele (Eric), and David (Amy). He was preceded by parents, Laura and Frank; stepfather, Ralph; and brothers, Ricky and Michael.

After graduating from Michigan Technological University, and receiving a Masters degree from Texas A&M University, Darryl put his degree as an engineer to use and worked as a civilian for the U.S. Army at Picatinny Arsenal for 40 years, after which he worked as an independent consultant.

He met his wife, Linda, and her daughter, Dana, in 1987, and he married Linda on May 26, 1990. They had two sons together, Ryan and Kyle. He was overjoyed to add Kyle’s wife Hilary to the family in 2016 and Ryan’s wife Janelle in 2019 (she preceded Darryl in 2021). He was later proud to become a grandfather to little Winnona in 2022 (born to Kyle and Hilary).

He was a truly loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather; but he was, first and foremost, a loyal servant of God. He was passionate about sharing the love and grace of Jesus with as many people as possible and generously gave of himself to help others. He enjoyed praising God and was often singing and worshiping with family, with friends, and at church. He was always smiling, filled with a peace that passes understanding, and wanted his life to bring glory to God right up until he passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord Jesus.

He will be sorely missed by his immediate family, brothers, sister, aunts, uncles, many cousins, friends, and co-workers. While this is the end of Darryl’s physical life here on earth, we are grateful that it is only the beginning of his eternal journey with Jesus and that we, as believers in Jesus, have the promise of seeing him again!

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00am at Frontline Bible Church, 8283 Pfeiffer Farms Dr SW, Byron Center, MI 49315.
