Henry Keith Smith 

December 5, 1935 - March 26, 2024 

Henry Keith Smith passed away on March 26, 2024, in Granbury, Texas. He was born December 5, 1935, in Hood County, Texas to Jesse Smith and Dollie Bryan Towell Smith. Henry was a graduate of the Granbury High School Class of 1954. Following graduation, Henry attended and graduated in 1959 from Texas A&M University with a BSME degree. While at Texas A&M, Henry was also a proud member of the ROTC Corps of Cadets.

After college, Henry was an officer in the U.S. Army for over three years. When he was released from active duty in July 1962, he and his first wife, Mary Grace Bramlett moved to Gainesville, Texas and raised four children. While in Gainesville, he completed his Masters degree in 1978 at North Texas State University (currently University of North Texas).

In July of 1984, Henry married Pattie Lee Patterson in Gainesville. They were married 32 years before her death in 2017. Throughout their thirty-two years of marriage, Henry and Pat lived in Gainesville, Roswell, Midland, and Lubbock.

Henry was a scoutmaster for Troop 668 sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, Texas. He was the first adult scout leader in Cooke County, Texas to complete all the requirements of Wood Badge Training. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas. His other interests were amateur radio and flying radio-controlled model airplanes. He received an award for service to the model airplane club in Midland, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Dollie Smith, his first wife Mary Grace Bramlett Smith, his second wife Pattie Lee Patterson Smith, his two sisters Lois Kelley and Juanita Roe, and his brother Jesse Smith, Jr.

He is survived by his four children, daughter Rebecca Anne Harvill and husband Kevin, sons Michael Keith Smith and wife Diana, Dennis Ray Smith and wife Charleen, and Bradley Charles Smith and wife Gail, seven grandchildren and special friend Jean Oxford.

A graveside service will be held at Long Creek Cemetery near Granbury, Texas under the supervision of Wiley Funeral Home on Saturday, March 30 at 1:00pm. Visitation at Wiley Funeral Home, 11:30-12:30 prior to the service.
