Beverly Ann Boggs 

April 23, 1961 - March 25, 2024 

Dr. Beverly Ann Boggs, age 62 of Proctorville Ohio passed away on March 25, 2024.

She was born on April 23rd, 1961, at Tinker Airforce Base in Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her father, Don Smith, Sr., her husband John Boggs, and her 2nd husband Dwane “Dean” Mitchell. She is survived by her mother, Barbara Smith, daughter, Bonnie (Dustin) Portillo, granddaughter, Olivia Portillo, brothers, Don (Leah) Smith, Jr. and David (Beth Ann) Smith, niece, Amelia Elder, nephews, Christopher Smith and Zachary Canter.

Beverly was a graduate of Texas A&M University where she earned her PhD. She had over 30 years of higher education experience that included working at Texas A&M Health Science Center, Georgia Medical College as well as Austin Peay State University where she had record-breaking enrollment numbers, and Marshall University where she was assisted in increasing enrollment numbers. She loved to sing in her youth and organize activities for her youth group. She often enjoyed experiencing live country, bluegrass, and gospel music at the Grand Ole Opry, the Rhythm, or other venues. She also loved fishing, trips to the beach, and was always willing to take an adventure.

Visitation with the family was on Friday, April 5, 2024, with a celebration of life that followed, both at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home.
