Kristine Elizabeth (Gravelle) Copeland 

May 23, 1971 - April 1, 2024 

Kristine Copeland, 52, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024 with her family by her side.

She was born on May 23, 1971 in Houston, Texas to Jess and Janet Gravelle. Kristine graduated from Sharpstown High School in 1989 and received a double major in English and Dance from Stephen F Austin State University in 1993. She later advanced her education and received her Masters at Texas A & M University.

Kristine started dancing at 2 years old and it became one of her passions throughout life and into a career that encompassed Dance Team Director positions, choreography, and dance judging. Dance Team members remember her strive for excellence but say her greatest goal was developing a relationship of loving them where they were. She brought this same desire into her career as a High School Assistant Principal. As someone so eloquently put it, “She wanted to be the voice of the unheard”. Kristine was a faithful Sunday School Teacher at both Second Baptist Church and Kingsland Baptist Church as well as a Life Group Teacher to teen girls on Sunday nights.

Kristine’s greatest joy is her son, Ben Copeland. Raising him to love Jesus and become a man of honor was above all else. Preceded in death by her father, Jess Gravelle, she leaves behind her mother Janet Gravelle, sisters, Kathy Hunt and Joycelyn Lawson, nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

She walked her faith, loved the Lord, and worked for His glory. She will be missed by many.
