Barnard graduated from Texas A&M University in 1963 with a degree in Agricultural Economics and the University of Texas Law School in 1994 with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence. Barnard was proud to have been a part of the Texas A&M Singing Cadets during his college years.

He enjoyed the challenge of getting a job done, in his lifetime his work included being a farmer, a banker, a petroleum landman and a realtor. He particularly enjoyed his last job before retirement at BHCH Mineral, he considered Bruce Hill to be the best employer he ever had, and he wished he would have met him sooner.

Barnard had a variety of other interests, which included singing, playing the piano, writing music, driving his tractor and working on his and Alandra’s property. Over the past 23 years Barnard and Alandra enjoyed getting to build a chapel on their property and operating Bacquae Ministries as a ministry to their community. He also loved a good joke; and he would just soon you would believe it.

The question might be asked, what happened to Barnard? The family wants you to know that after years of misdiagnosis regarding his lung issues through a miraculous turn of events, Barnard was diagnosed with CO2 poisoning in June 2023. If you know someone is suffering with unidentified lung issues, Alandra would like to share Barnard’s story with you.

He would also acknowledge with a grateful heart his beautiful caregiver, Alandra for her loving care and attention over the past year.

The family would also like to thank Laura Ohler, Family Nurse Practitioner, Adam Branch, Nurse Practitioner, Always Best Care Caregivers, River City Hospice for their help during Barnard’s illness.

Most important of his interests was his relationship with Jesus Christ. Barnard became a born-again Christian as a young boy. He believed that Jesus loved him, and he wanted everyone to know that Jesus loved them too. If Barnard could tell you anything today, he would say forgive and allow yourself to be forgiven. Love God and love people.
