David Sebastian Cos

June 1, 1965 - April 15, 2024

Dr. David Sebastian Cos, a trusted and loved physician who was a cherished member of the healthcare community, departed this world on April 15, 2024, at his home in The Woodlands, Texas. He was 58 years old.

Born on June 1, 1965, in San Antonio, Texas, to Cecilio and Margaret Cos, David's journey began with boundless potential and a heart filled with empathy. Raised in Houston, he graduated from Sharpstown High School before embarking on a transformative educational odyssey. He proudly donned the maroon and white of Texas A&M University, earning a degree in Biomedical Engineering in 1987.

David's unwavering commitment to healing led him to The University of Texas Southwestern School of Medicine in Dallas, followed by a residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. For twenty-seven years, he served as a trusted, board certified internal medicine physician at Physicians Group of The Woodlands, where his expertise, compassion, and dedication touched the lives of countless patients. David loved his patients and staff and approached each interaction with empathy and expertise, earning him the respect and gratitude of all who crossed his path.

Beyond his professional achievements, David's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted and loving husband to Dolores, a loving father to Gabrielle, Sebastian, and Nicolas, a doting step-father to Gracie, and a proud grandfather to Eliza. Watching his children finish school, start businesses, demonstrating great work ethic, and start new chapters brought him great joy. His unwavering love and support created a foundation of strength and warmth that will endure for generations to come.

He also loved Aggie football and found solace and joy on the tennis court, where his sportsmanship was matched only by his camaraderie with fellow players. Whether competing in singles, doubles, or mixed doubles, David's love for the game was evident to all who played alongside him. His cherished victory at The LeMaster Husband and Wife Tennis Tournament was one of his proudest tennis accomplishments. On the court he was known for his trademark two racquets and two bananas, which was part of his "secret to success!"

David is survived by his wife Dolores, daughter Gabrielle Cos, sons Sebastian and Nicolas Cos, step-daughter Gracie Phillips, granddaughter Eliza Sample, his mother Margaret Lewis, his sister Maria Elena Gonzalez & brother-in-law Salvador Gonzalez, and sister Nizie Whiddon & brother-in-law Jim Whiddon, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

David was preceded to heaven by his father, Dr. Cecilio Sebastian Cos, grandparents Sebastian Cos Cos & Reineria Celorio Paret, and David & Margaret Been.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on April 24th at The Woodlands Methodist Church in the Harvest Sanctuary (2200 Lake Woodlands Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77380), where David's spirit will be honored, his legacy celebrated, and his memory cherished by all whose lives he touched.

Donations may be made to Love Fosters Hope (lovefostershope.org) or The Woodlands Methodist Church Foundation (thewoodlandsmethodist.org/foundation) in honor of David's commitment to healing and compassion.

As we bid farewell to David, let us take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy of kindness, integrity, and love will endure as a beacon of light guiding us through the darkest of days.

Rest in peace, dear Dr. Cos. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know you.
