Walter Johnson Holder 

September 15, 1935 - June 30, 2023 

Walter Johnson Holder, 87, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2023 in Harlingen, Texas. He was born to Dr. Carl Bennett Holder and Myrna Johnson Holder on September 15, 1935 in Floydada, Texas.

Walter was a graduate of Texas A & M University, Class of 1958. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Walter was a general contractor.

He was a member of Wesley Methodist Church and volunteer for CASA and Kairos Ministry. Walter was a Master Gardener and a jack of all trades.

Walter is preceded in death his parents, Dr. Carl Bennett Holder and Myrna Johnson Holder and his wife, Judith Ann Kelly Holder.

Left to treasure his memory are his sons, Kelly Bennett Holder (Lacy) and Christopher Carl Holder both of Harlingen, Texas and grandchildren, Bennett Walter Holder of Harlingen, Texas, Katherine Mae Holder of Austin, Texas, Blake Thomas Holder and Ryan Christopher Holder both of Boerne, Texas.

Walter’s family wishes to thank the caregivers with Gentiva Hospice, the Church family and close friends.

A celebration of Walter’s life will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Wesley Methodist Church in Harlingen.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter’s memory may be made to the Wesley Methodist Church, CASA and the Alzheimer’s Association.
