Paul Michael Thompson 

February 13, 1949 - March 27, 2024 

A Celebration of Life for Paul Michael Thompson, 75, of Whitehouse, Texas will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Pollard United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Luna officiating. Burial will follow at Read Hill Cemetery in New Boston, Texas.

Paul Thompson passed away Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, in Tyler. He was born February 13, 1949, in Texarkana, TX to Effie Evelyn Browning Thompson and Herman Winfred Thompson. Paul was the 5th of 6 children. He graduated as Valedictorian from New Boston High School in 1967 and graduated from Texas A&M University as a Distinguished Military Student in 1971. As a member of the Corp of Cadets, A-Battery, Class of ’71, Paul maintained these cherished friendships for over 50 years.

Paul was a Christian, a wonderful provider, a loving husband, a devoted father, and a fun-loving Papa to his grandchildren. He woke each morning with the mission to live each day in joy. He was a quiet man, kind and strong who could always be counted on to be there for others. Paul enjoyed hunting, working, traveling, and spending time with his many friends. He was bound by family traditions and close ties with not only his immediate family but his extended family as well.

Paul was a member of Pollard United Methodist Church, enjoyed his career at Trane, and was a long-time coach of Boys Youth Soccer in Tyler. The highlight of his time as a coach was participating in an international soccer tournament in Yatchio City, Japan.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Effie and Herman Thompson, and two brothers, Walter Edward Thompson and Travis Wayne Thompson. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 51 years, Deborah Thompson; daughter Leigh Thompson King and husband, Kevin; son Douglas Browning Thompson and wife, TJ; beloved grandchildren, Carson and Cooper King and Parker and Hudson Thompson; brothers Winfred, wife Kitty, Ralph Thompson and sister Gail Thompson Talbot and husband David, sister-in-law Ginnie Thompson and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Denise and Kyle Cunov, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of A-Battery, Texas A&M University, Class of ’71.

Visitation is April 3, 2024 from 9:30 to 10:30 with Celebration of Life immediately following at Pollard United Methodist Church at 3030 New Copeland Rd. Tyler, TX 75701.

Interment is at 3:00 at Read Hill Cemetery at County Rd. 4005, New Boston, TX 75570.
