Petra M. "Patsy" (Villareal) Rodriguez 

December 14, 1950 - June 22, 2023 

Petra Villareal Rodriguez, 72, of Bryan, Texas, passed away on June 22, 2023. 

Petra was born on December 14, 1950, to Domingo and Carmen Villareal in Cameron, TX. She was the eldest of three children. Following graduation from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1969, Petra attended Texas A&M University where she attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 1973. She also attended Sam Houston State University where she received her English as a Second Language (ESL) certificate. Petra was passionate about teaching. Over her nearly twenty-year career, Petra taught at several school districts, including Madisonville, Calvert, Hearne, Bryan, Navasota, and Snook.

She was active in the community as a member of the American Legion and volunteered with the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. Her friendly nature and joyous spirit ensured she never met a stranger.

When Petra was not working or volunteering, she enjoyed spending time with her family and being involved with her church community.

Her parents, Domingo and Carmen Villareal, her sister, Veronica Wilder, and her husband, Pablo Rodriguez, preceded Petra in death.

She is survived by her son, Carlos Rodriguez of Bryan; her daughter and her spouse, Cristina Rodriguez and Garrett Skrehart of Lewisville; her sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Johnny Martinez of Bryan; her brother-in-law and his wife, Mark and Sharon Wilder; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to thank Enhabit Hospice for their care of Petra.

A visitation for Petra will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Memorial Funeral Chapel 1515 South College Avenue, Bryan, Texas 77801. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St Joseph Catholic Church, 600 E 26th St, Bryan, Texas 77803. Interment will follow at Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery.
