Kenneth L. Ward

March 14, 1943 - May 22, 2023

Kenneth L Ward was born on March 14, 1943, in Phillips, Texas to Jack Audrey and Willie B. Ward.

After graduating from Phillips High School in 1961, he enrolled at Texas A&M University in College Station, graduating with a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1967.

After graduation, Ken moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked at the Kansas City Zoo from 1967-1969. Then it was back to DFW where he worked for several years at a clinic in Irving. Following that he moved to Montana working in both large and small animal practice from 1974-1975. He moved from there back to Dallas to take on the job of managing the newly formed Emergency Animal Clinic, which he ran until purchasing Knox Park Animal Hospital.

Ken and his wife, Linda, had a daughter, Tonya born in College Station in 1963, and a son, Monty, born in Kansas City in 1968. In 1994, after the birth of his daughter Audrey in 1993, Ken and his wife, Maria, purchased the Knox Park Animal Hospital which they ran until 2016, when Ken retired. Among Ken's great joys in life, aside from his children, were golf, playing the guitar and singing (off-key,) playing poker and reading John Grisham novels. He was a devoted member of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, and served as an Acolyte, a Lay Eucharistic Minister and as a very realistic Saint Nicholas during the Christmas season.

On May 22, 2023, Ken very suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. He was predeceased by his ex-wife, Linda, and daughter, Tonya, as well as his mother and father. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Tina, his daughter, Audrey, his brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Sandra Ward, nephew, Brad Ward and his family, niece, Shawn Ward, and his ex-wife, Maria. His Memorial Service was held on June 14 in the Chapel at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
