David J. Jirovec

November 3, 1945 - March 26, 2024

David Jirovec of Mission, Texas, peacefully departed this world, enveloped in love, on March 26th, 2024, at the age of 78. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, three cherished children, and four adored grandchildren.

Affectionately known as "Mr. Jirovec" to many, he embodied the essence of a remarkable, spiritual family man. Throughout his journey, he donned various hats — serving as a tennis coach, a dedicated principal, an inspiring educator, and a heartfelt aficionado of science. His enthusiasm for the wonders of science was contagious, as he dedicated much of his life to instilling his passion and knowledge into the hearts and minds of countless individuals, who were fortunate enough to be influenced by him.

David's reverence for the natural world permeated every aspect of his being. Whether at his Mission home, nurturing his meticulously tended garden and rescuing birds, or strolling the shores of South Padre Island, carefully collecting seashells, his connection to nature was profound.

More than just a gentle soul, David epitomized love and compassion. His infectious smile and authentic concern for others left a meaningful imprint on all who crossed his path. He approached each interaction with kindness, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and empathy that will endure through the ages.

While David may have bid farewell to this physical realm, his spirit and legacy will live eternally in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. His absence will be keenly felt by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he graced, yet his memory will serve as a constant source of inspiration and unconditional love in our daily lives.

Remembrance of David’s life will take place on Saturday April 6th, 2024 with visitation beginning at 9:30am at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen where a Rosary will be prayed at 10:30am. Memorial Mass will follow at 1:00pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in McAllen.
