David Gilbert Halm, COL USA (Ret)

January 19, 1941 - August 20, 2021 

David Gilbert Halm of Irvine, California entered into eternal rest on August 20, 2021. His parents Stella and Gilbert Halm preceded him in death.

David grew up in San Antonio graduating from Texas A&M University in 1962 as a member of the Corp remaining in the Army Reserves for over 30 years achieving the rank of Colonel. He was an engineer for USG for over 35 years working in New Braunfels, TX, Jacksonville, FL, and Irvine, CA. David was an active member of Rotary Clubs at every location he lived, serving as President for each. He supported the Wounded Warrior Project, Rotary Wheelchair Foundation, and Polio Eradication Initiative. He had been an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels and enjoyed Aggie class reunions and fine wine.

David is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara; brother Ralph; son, John (Sally); daughter, Darcy Trzupek (Gerry) and his three grandchildren, Juliana Halm, and Maggie and Lorelei Trzupek.

Services to celebrate David will be held Sunday, August 29, 2021; visitation will begin at 8am with funeral services and committal at 11am followed by a reception from 1 – 3pm at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home in San Antonio.
