Alan R. Miller

February 28, 1945 - December 19, 2023

Alan R. Miller of Queensbury, NY passed away at age 78 on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, unexpectedly from a heart attack, while he was vacationing in Costa Rica.

Alan was born in Indiana on February 28, 1945, to an Army family as one of seven children and grew up living in Germany, Minnesota, New York, Japan and Tennessee before attending Texas A&M University where he graduated in 1967. He served with the US Army in Korea during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged.

Alan then married his wife, Karen (Kislowski). In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Kristi Brock (Kyle) of Queensbury, Laura McDonald (Jon) of San Diego, Ryan Miller (Alyson) of Lake George and Lisa Weber (Tom) of Burlington. He was especially close to all of his six grandchildren, Mandy Miller of Glens Falls, Sean Culligan of Queensbury, Riley and Kenna McDonald of San Diego, Elliana Miller of Lake George and Aliza Weber of Burlington.

Alan had many careers over the years, from marketing two-way radios for Motorola, to selling real estate and log homes. In between, he owned and operated Pro Fast Photo in Queensbury and over the past several years he helped out at his children’s restaurant, Kru Coffee.

He was a man of many talents, perhaps most well-known for his “Gift of Gab”, as anyone who knew him will tell you…. Alan was an avid gardener, his adventurous spirit loved to travel, and he was always up for whatever life dished out. He was always upbeat and smiling and had an infectious energy that made him a pleasure to be around. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone, there was nothing he wouldn’t do if asked and nothing was an inconvenience. Alan was an exceptional father and grandfather; his family always came first. He was one of those people where you could truly say the world was a better place with him in it and he will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Calling hour will be at Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024, followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm. Online condolences can be made to the family by visiting www.sbfuneralhome.com
