Larry Walter Hoffmann 

January 21, 1932 - April 9, 2024 

Larry Walter Hoffmann of Spicewood, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 at the age of 92. He was born in Selma, Texas. In 1937, his family moved to a ranch near New Braunfels, Texas, and he graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1950.

He graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1954. Always interested in furthering his education, Larry received his Masters Degree in Aerospace Operations Management and completed coursework and exams in the doctoral program in the School of Government and Business Administration at George Washington University.

In 1954, he received his commission in the Air Force and was assigned to Tachikawa Air Base, Japan where he began his 42-year career as a civil engineer. In 1956 he decided to work with the Air Force as a civilian in the Civil Service. While in Japan, he met and married his wife Linda (Yoshiko). His family eventually moved to the United States where he continued his career in the Civil Service working in Virginia and San Antonio, where he retired in 1997.

Larry enjoyed traveling, playing golf, listening and dancing to German polkas and gardening. An avid reader, Larry did extensive research about water resources, politics, and economics.

Eventually, Larry and Linda moved to Spicewood, Texas where he enjoyed spending time with family, watching Aggie football, playing his harmonica, reading, and working in his yard. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his passion for sharing knowledge and his sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his sons Daniel and Paul, sister Jeannette, brother-in-law Allen and brother Stanley.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Linda, daughter Anna and husband Dan, daughter-in-law Patty and grandchildren Andy, Zach, Kristina, Natalie, Ben, and Claire, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd, Lakeway, TX 78734 on Saturday, April 20th at 2:00 pm.
