August 13, 1935 - May 5, 2023 

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette, LA, for Raymond A. Van Eaton, Jr., 87, who passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA.

Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette, LA, on Monday, May 8, 2023, from 9:00 am until the time of service. Entombment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette, LA.

Raymond A. Van Eaton, Jr., was born August 13, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. Raymond graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston, TX, Class of 1953. After high school, he attended Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, and graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. Raymond was a proud veteran and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army.

After his time in the service, Raymond worked as a Licensed Petroleum Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry, until his retirement in 1993. He was an avid Texas A&M Aggie fan and liked to fish.

After retirement, Raymond most enjoyed spending time with family, and liked to watch College football, in particular Texas A&M. Family meant everything to Raymond, and he leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.

Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Glenda Perry Van Eaton, of Lafayette, LA; his five children, sons, David Van Eaton and his wife Karen, of Forth Worth, TX, Craig Andrew Van Eaton and his wife Kerri, of Wellington, FL, Mark Van Eaton and his wife Christi, of Lafayette, LA, and daughters, Diane Dorsa, of Brentwood, TN, and Nancy Cheryl Mooney and her husband Robert, of Princeton, NJ; his sisters, Diane Sheffield and her husband Don, of Belle Meade, TN, and Nancy Morgan and her husband Weldon, of The Woodlands, TX; his fourteen grandchildren, Grant, Ross, Kristen, Christopher, James, William, Catherine, Robert, Sarah, Adam, Kyle, Drew, Joe, and Sam and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond A. Van Eaton, Sr., and Hazel McAnneny Van Eaton.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Grant Van Eaton, Ross Van Eaton, Drew Van Eaton, Joe Van Eaton, and Sam Van Eaton.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center ICU, Dr. Alan Appley and all of the nurses for the compassionate care given to Raymond and his family.
