Mary W. Edwards 

May 14, 1937 - April 1, 2023 

Mary Wilson Edwards, 85, passed on April 1, 2023. She was born on May 14, 1937 to George and Stella Wilson in Muncie, Indiana who preceded her in death.

She was passionate about education. Beginning on her quest to fulfill that passion she began college at the age of 40. After completing a B.S. in Education at Texas A&M University, she was hired as a special education teacher in Hearne, Texas. Over the next several years while working full time she added a Masters and Ph.D. She finally retired at the age of 75 from her last position, Dean of Education at Dalton State College in Dalton, Georgia.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Richard. Together they enjoyed their endeavors in education, travel to foreign countries, and helping others during their 66 years of marriage.

She is survived by her children Phillip, John and Anne and grandchildren; Amanda, Alyssa and Andrew. A sister, Edith, also survives.

The family wishes to give thanks to the staff of the St. Joseph Manor Skilled Nursing Facility for the compassionate care she received while in their care.
