Ronald Lamar Sparks

May 22, 1952 - December 1, 2023

Ronald L. Sparks, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1st, 2023. Ron was born on May 22nd, 1952 in San Angelo, TX to Lamar Q. Sparks, Jr. and Anna Corbet Sparks. He spent his childhood in San Angelo, where he and his brother Corbet Sparks enjoyed time spent on the ranch, exploring the inner workings of every machine they could find, and learning life lessons.

He went on to receive a degree in Electric Engineering from Texas A&M University (Class of 74, Whoop!) and moved to Midland to begin his career. It was there he met his soul mate and married the love of his life, Inez Haggard Sparks. Their journey together took them around the world on innumerable adventures. Ron’s career was multi-faceted and full of accomplishments. It reflected his staggering intellect, his passion for learning and teaching, and showcased the renaissance man that he was. He made many life-long friends during his career that he held very dear.

Ron was the best husband, father, grandfather, mentor, partner in crime, and friend anyone could ask for. Words cannot express how greatly he will be missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him, however brief or long.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years; daughters CarrieLee Sparks, and Kimberly Craig and her husband Matthew Craig of Spring, TX; his 2 grandchildren, Miles S. Craig and Rhys L. Craig; brother Corbet Sparks and wife Cinda Sparks.

Private family services were held. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Muster Foundation at Texas A&M University or a charity of their choice. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Accardo, Voskuhl, and Gallagher families for all their support and care.
