Thomas Elliott Newton 

August 9, 1951 - July 31, 2020 

Dr. Thomas ‘Chip’ Elliott Newton, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away July 31, 2020, at the age of 68 in Dallas.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Farha (Ryan) of Heath; his son, Christian Newton (Maggie) of Frisco; his four beautiful grandchildren; his sister, Missy Lynch (John) of Brentwood, Tennessee; his former spouse and mother of his children, Donna Rolater of Heath; and his former spouse, best friend, and companion, Patricia Rhea of Dallas. His parents, Bernice and Thomas Newton, preceded Chip in death.

He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 9, 1951. Chip excelled at Texas A&M University where he studied Pre-Med, was a member of the Corps of Cadets, and managed to fit in many fishing trips between classes. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1977.

‘Dr. Chip’ opened his private dental practice in Dallas in 1981. He loved his patients and proudly served them for over three decades. Chip was passionate about the arts, history, poetry, and philosophy and immersed his children in these things through books and trips to museums and performances. Chip’s final phase of life exuded grace – despite a challenging battle with cancer, he was a constant source of encouragement and wisdom to his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Due to the pandemic, seating will be limited. In lieu of flowers, the family desires that memorial donations be made to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, 2301 Flora Street, Dallas, Texas 75201 or www.mydso.com
