David Young Meisenbach 

February 20, 1936 - March 11, 2024 

David Young Meisenbach, 88, of Dallas, TX passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024, surrounded by loved ones and family.

He was born February 20, 1936 to Janet Young Meisenbach and Paul LaPorte Meisenbach in Buffalo, NY. He came to Dallas shortly thereafter and grew up on Glasgow Ave in East Dallas with his parents and older sister Ann. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America/ Circle 10 Council of North Texas and became an Eagle Scout as a teenager.

He attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and graduated in 1955. During High School, he met the beautiful Barbara Ann Mays at a dance one Saturday night at a house overlooking White Rock Lake and fell in love. After high school, David attended Texas A&M University at College Station where he graduated with a business degree. He considered himself a lifetime Aggie and was exceptionally proud of his Aggie ring which he wore every day for the next 60+ years.

In 1958 he enlisted in the Marines Corp and trained at Camp Pendleton and at Twenty-Nine Palms Marine Base in California.

After returning from the Marines, David and Ann were married and together raised three children Karl, Kristi and Kurt (as well as assorted animals) at their house on Vinemont St. in the White Rock Area of Dallas. David was always interested in electronics, gadgets, cameras, televisions, early car phones and Cadillac cars. He was a successful life-long entrepreneur and had multiple retail stores and businesses most notably Preston TV & Video at the Corner of Forest and Preston in North Dallas which he ran for 60 years. He was an avid snow skier and a member of the Dallas Ski Club and traveled extensively with them on trips.

He was an exceptionally charming man. He loved people and conversations and could easily talk with anyone. He loved his family and was devoted to his parents, his sister, his children and grandchildren. Having spent some time living in Mexico, he loved to travel and had a wonderful sense of adventure. He was also a fan of great Mexican food and the culture, and his favorite was El Fenix restaurant in Casa Linda where he took the family every Wednesday night in the 60's and 70's.

David is preceded in death by his parents Janet and Paul Meisenbach and his sister, Ann Meisenbach Andrews Schwarz.

He is survived by his ex-wife Barbara Ann Mays Meisenbach, his son Karl Meisenbach, his daughter Kristi Meisenbach Boylan and her husband Patrick Boylan and their children Amanda Boylan, Brandan Boylan and Blair Boylan, Darius Polk and Louise Schmidt. He is also survived by his son Kurt Meisenbach -Simonian and his husband Steve Meisenbach- Simonian and their children Ethan David Meisenbach-Simonian and Eva Mae Meisenbach-Simonian. Additionally, he is survived by his many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members, and most notably the many friends and treasured employees of Preston TV & Video.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, located at 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 2 PM in the same location at the Main Chapel.
