Derrell Wayne Herrell 

September 30, 1965 - March 21, 2024 

Derrell Wayne Herrell, 58, of Hillsboro, Texas passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 at his home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 25 at Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard with Rev. Edward Sumrall officiating. Family visitation will be 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Wade Funeral Home. Derrell will also lie in state from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24 at the funeral home.

Derrell, or “Boss Hogg” as he was also known, was born September 30, 1965 in Hillsboro to Charlie Derrell and Virginia (Kilgo) Herrell. He was raised in Hillsboro and attended Hillsboro High School and Hill College before graduating from Texas A&M University and was extremely proud to be a lifelong Aggie. Derrell lived in the Metroplex area for a time and worked for Countrywide Financial in Frisco.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie “Buster” and Virginia Herrell and an infant brother, Randy Herrell.

Survivors include his wife, Karla Herrell of Hillsboro; his brother, Charles Ray Herrell and wife, Linda of Abbott; a nephew, Jason Herrell and wife, Shannon of Hillsboro; a niece, Jennifer Miller and husband, Brett of Prosper; a great-niece, Jacalyn Herrell of Abbott; several aunts and uncles and numerous other extended family members and dear and best friend, Mark Pratt of Hillsboro.
