Michael James "Mike" Foster

April 5, 1972 - March 17, 2024

On Sunday, March 17, 2024, Michael James Foster “Mike,” loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle, passed away at the age of 51.

Mike was born to Gary and Linda Foster on April 5, 1972 in Port Arthur, Texas. He graduated from Port Neches/Groves High School in 1990 and was a very proud graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned a mechanical engineering degree in 1995.

Mike fell in love with Shonda at Texas A&M University and they were married in Port Neches, Texas, August 17, 1996. Mike and Shonda were blessed with two amazing children, Jacob Michael Foster, born on September 19, 2001, and Jordyn Taylor Foster, born June 9, 2005. Mike loved spending time with Jake, Jordyn and Shonda.

Mike was a very gifted engineer and worked for BP America. He was an integral part of the Central Completions Design and Standardization Team. As well as his professional expertise and exceptional work ethic, Mike was admired for his positive attitude, willingness to always lend a helping hand, and his mentorship of younger engineers. Mike had a remarkable ability to connect with others on a personal level, always taking the time to share a kind word or joke.

Mike’s career allowed Mike, Shonda, Jake and Jordyn to travel, live abroad and create amazing memories. Their family time traveling and exploring was very special and will always be cherished. The Foster family spent many vacations on the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean.

He loved spending weekends riding his Harley. He and Shonda were looking forward to their time as empty nesters enjoying the back roads of Texas on his Harley. We can’t think of Mike without thinking of motorcycles and fast trucks.

Mike was a diehard Aggie football fan (until they were losing) and was Jake and Jordyn’s biggest fan. He never missed a football, baseball or softball game. He enjoyed all things sports and workouts with Shonda.

The Foster family gave forever homes to some special pups that miss him so much. Mike’s answer was always yes to anything or anyone that needed a helping hand, even dogs!

A special title that he wore well was “Uncle Mike.” His nieces and nephews adored him, his laugh, big hugs and silly antics. If he picked on you, he loved you and Uncle Mike loved big.

Mike most recently celebrated Jake’s marriage to Caraline Hardy Foster with his family and was excited to become a father-in-law and grow the Foster family. Mike loved his family. In his eyes, family always came first. He admired his dad, Pop, beyond words. He cherished Pop’s advice on everything…except that one time he bought the Corvette! He was a mama’s boy to his core. He always said his mama was his angel. He looked forward to her Sunday evening phone calls. He loved his Big Sister Sue more than you can imagine. The memories and love they shared is indescribable. Even though she was eight years older, they celebrated, partied, and loved like they were teenagers together.

Mike is survived by wife, Shonda, his children, Jordyn, Jake and his bride, Caraline; his parents, Gary and Linda Foster, his sister Susan Matte and husband Aaron, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
