Richard Eugene Davis 

July 25, 1950 - March 28, 2024 

Richard Eugene Davis, 73, of Palacios, Texas passed away March 28, 2024. He was born July 25, 1950 in Houston, Texas to the late Robert Austin Davis and Thelma Darlene Wallace Davis.

Richard was an Aggie thru & thru-Class of '72, graduating from Texas A&M with a degree in Wildlife Fisheries Science along with certification to teach all the sciences.

He began his 45+ years of teaching in Woodsboro where he also coached junior high boys and drove a bus. Other places he taught were Industrial, Liberty, Gallup (NM) and Laguna-Acoma (NM), Hart, & Tidehaven. He continued his career at Palacios where he taught for 20+ years. In several of these school districts he coached athletics & academics (i.e. Speech & Debate).

Richard also obtained a Masters’ Degree in Guidance & Counseling. He enjoyed the years that he counseled elementary students.

Teaching school did not allow much time for hobbies but he did enjoy watching sports, fishing, and singing with the Coastalaires.

Survivors include his wife Sherry Ann Davis; daughters Aleena Davis (Mike DeDear) and D’Lynn Davis; sons Trevor Scott Davis (Julie) and Malon Kyle Davis (Kelli); sisters Pat Williams and Darlene Stanley and grandchildren Robert Davis, Xavier Davis, J. R. Davis, Torin Davis, Georgia Davis, Kellon Davis, Asher Davis, Yvaine Copeland, Kaylie Stumbris, Tyler Stumbris, Nathan Stumbris, Nick DeDear, Taylor DeDear, and has very recently welcomed 2 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Nichols Street Church of Christ in Bay City, Texas.
